1. Are these workshops
accredited by Emploi-Québec?
All our workshops are accredited by Emploi-Québec. This means that
the cost of any workshop you take can be computed toward the
requirements of Bill 90 which requires employers in Quebec to spend at
least 1% of their payroll on training every year. Our accreditation
number is 0006665.
2. My English (or French) is not
excellent. Will I still benefit from the translation workshop?
The translation workshop is intended for employees who translate occasionally but who
have never had any formal training in translation. This means that you
do not have to be perfectly bilingual. The basic requirement is that you
have a good knowledge of both languages. The workshop will assist you in
three areas:
- It will provide you
a translation methodology, that is, the steps you follow when
translating;
- It will enable you
to translate the same document faster, thanks to the above
methodology and other techniques that you will learn at the
workshop;
- It will enable you
to obtain answers to many nagging questions that you have about
translation.
3. Is the English workshop for
anglophones also?/Is the French workshop only for francophones?
The English
Composition Workshop is designed for francophones; however, an
anglophone may attend mainly to brush up his/her English. This does not
mean that an anglophone will not benefit from the workshop.
The French Composition Workshop is also intended for francophones. It is
a very advanced workshop that is intended as a refresher for details
that many francophones tend to ignore. An anglophone with a very good
grasp of the French language will also find the workshop useful.
4. After I enroll for the
workshop, what happens next?
After you enroll for
the workshop, you (or your company) will receive an invoice. Since
places are limited for each workshop, we will only confirm your
enrollment after your payment is received. Upon receipt of your payment,
you will receive an evaluation exercise (usually three weeks before the
date of the workshop) together with details about the workshop. You have
to complete the evaluation exercise and return it to us by the date
marked.
5. What happens if I enroll for
the workshop but I can not attend?
Once you enroll for a
workshop, your enrollment remains valid even if you are unable to attend
a given session. You can attend any other workshop in the same city or
in any other city of your choice up to two years from your date of
enrollment. We will remind you whenever the same workshop comes up in
your city. You can also check this Web site to find suitable dates.
Your enrollment is also transferable. This means that you can designate
anyone of your choice to take the workshop in your place at no charge.
You can also cancel your enrollment up to two weeks before the date of
the workshop and receive full reimbursement. Unfortunately, you will not
be reimbursed if your cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to
the date of the workshop. In this case, you can take the same workshop
at a later date or designate someone else to take the workshop as
explained above.
6. I think my translation
skills are very good. Can I enroll for the advanced workshop directly?
No! The advanced
workshop is a logical progression of the first workshop so you need to
have attended the first workshop to attend the second.
7. Can I pay by credit card?
We hope to be
equipped to receive credit card payments soon. For now, after your
enrollment, we will send you an invoice and you can send in your payment
by cheque.
